Dear Friends in Christ,
Greetings and good wishes from Sharona Welfare Society, Repalle, Andhra Pradesh , India .
Trust this note finds you all in good cheer. With bright hope I pen these lines for your consideration and favor.
With brief introduction of our Society and Vision, I want to challenge and invite you to partner with us as the Lord leads to extend the Lord’s kingdom upon earth.
About our work:
Sharona Welfare Society was formed in the year 1997. There are two wings for Sharona in the area of Operations (1.) Compassion Services
(2.) Leadership Development.
The aim of Compassion services is to bring rays of radiance in the lives of Women abandoned by family and society.
Abandoned women are Widows without family support,
Old aged women who don’t have family or other support and
Women living with HIV AIDS.
The aim is to bring light in the areas of Spiritual, physical, mental, emotional, financial, social realms of the selected individuals who are denied in the society.
Orphanage consists of Children who are Full Orphans (don’t have father and mother) Semi Orphans (Either Father or Mother alive, but helpless) Run away children found in streets, Children restored from Begging, Rag Pickers. The aim is to transform these lives through Gospel by nurturing with Christian Education and values, good secular education, good food & shelter and clothing in a residential setup so that they can be good citizens of India and harbingers of Christ love and salvation .
Medical and Health Camps:
Lack of Awareness on health issues many villagers die. Sometime when epidemics break and the rescue work operations don’t reach the victims and diseased many loose their lives. So we organize health awareness campaigns and Medical camps to facilitate services to build the health.
Services during Natural calamities:
Geographically Repalle is nearby by river and Sea. When Tsunami in the past and recent floods devastated and shattered the lives of people, Sharona extended its solidarity and help to the victimized in Natural calamities.
The aim of Leadership Development through Christian library and Book house is to produce thinkers and “Think Tanks” who can influence the opinion makers of the society with Christ’ love through readership and short term contextual training programs. The motive is to make young men and women of God to involve in Evangelism and Missions.
Present Crisis and Challenges
Upto 7 years i.e. from 1997 to 2004, we could help and build up to certain extent 50 Orphan children and 30 abandoned women. We have given them a perspective, good taste and hope for life also they received Lord Jesus Christ and preparing for Eternity. We have laid a good base of physical, mental and a Godly vision for future
from 2004 onwards a major setback of financial crisis became a great challenge for us to run the projects. This was due to lack of funds and obstacles from Anti Christian groups in obstructing Government funds labeling us as a Christian religious organization.
So we relocated most of our children in Government and other welfare hostels.
With great pain we have sent our abandoned women to other catholic institutions. Right now we are running day care centre for 30 children and non-residential skill training programs to abandoned women.
Also in our field work and our daily routine we encounter good number of Children on roads and public places. There are growing number of orphan children due to natural disasters, accidents and poverty in our place.
From Pastors and village leaders I have lot of pressure to reactivate the residential centre for Orphanage and also for helpless women
Great is HIS faithfulness, Morning by Morning we see new mercies, all that we needed HIS hand has provided, Great is HIS faithfulness, the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. (Lam 3:23) “One can kill the dreamer but cannot kill the dream.”
Kindly pray and do as per God’s leading: -
Our needs and plans for 2013
To reactivate Orphanage – Sharona Welfare Society Home for at least 100 deserving children
To reactivate – Sharona Welfare Society Home for at least 35 Abandoned/Needy
Old Aged Widows
To organize literacy centers (Adult Education program) to make 150 literates (who can read Bible in one year)
To train 200 leaders through training programs, workshops, seminars on current issues and contextual trends to be effective in Evangelism.
“Then the King will say to those on the right “Come you who are blessed by my Father, take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was stranger and you invited me, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me…..’’
I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me. Matthew 25: 34-36, 40.
At this juncture we invite your prayer support and partnership in Mission .
May I have the pleasure of hearing from you soon!!
